TPA newsletter > The TPA Group to Consolidate Resources as the Guangming New District Rolls Out Its Development Plan
The Guangming New District was officially setup and announced In May 2007, as the next step in the rapid expansion and development of Shenzhen city area. This latest stage of development will be another impressive milestone in Shenzhen’s historical growth.
The Guangming New District’s planning and development began many years ago, when the Shenzhen government realized that they would face a bottleneck in future economic development, and they needed a new creative solution in the suburbs. From this realization arose the plan to set up the Guangming New District as a sub-center of Shenzhen city. This new area’s construction would be based on the ideals of “eco-friendliness, innovation, and harmony.”
This year, Guangming New District was established and positioned to be a “green, innovative and harmonious city” with the main purpose of developing possibilities, which come from Shenzhen’s industrial transformation, civic development, and the “Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation Circle.” The production value of the high-tech industry grew 23% in the year of 2008. Moreover, up to Feb. 2009, there were more than fifty-eight related company projects scheduled to move into Guangming New District. Companies such as Century Epitech, Taiwan Nitto Optical, and DuPont’s Solar Energy Thin-Film unit, are converging in Guangming to form a high-tech industrial group specializing in photo-electricity, flat-panel displays and biological medicine. We are seeing an industrial advantage slowly forming within the area. In the near future, in order to become an economic growth pole of Shenzhen, the Guangming New District will focus on six kinds of industrial bases: information technology, advanced manufacturing, compound semi-conductors, high-end services, biological medicine, and nature-based tourism.
|The Guangming government launched “Several Actions of Guangming New District’s Maintenance and Development” at the start of this year, to help enterprises solve problems of involving land, financing, water, electricity, etc. They held over 150 company investigations to date, 60 workshops with local government leaders, and helped resolve over 110 cases for local companies.

In the next few years, the Guangming New District will have more than 150 billion RMB of fixed assets investment, which means the unit investment per square kilometers reach up to 100 million RMB. By the year 2011, total primary roads will stretch to 135 kilometers, with a better density of road coverage than Shenzhen city’s average level.
The first time Guangming New District auctioned two pieces of land this August, land which covered an area of 180 thousand sqm, attracted much attention from realtors. 16 of 60 agents were selected to participate in the auction, including prominent groups such as Vanke, China Overseas Property, China Merchants Group, and S.E.Z.Real Estate Group, etc. In the end, the S.E.Z Real Estate Group won the auction with an astounding bid of 1.2 billion RMB.
TPA Group, which has thrived in Shenzhen for 15 years, has two manufacturing factories here in the Guangming New District. Our land area is 66 thousand sqm. With an accumulated useable space of 330 thousand sqm. According to the current plan, the land itself is targeted to become the new business center of the district, with an estimated value of more than 2 billion RMB!
Coinciding with the development of the Guangming New District, the TPA Group is going to execute its expansion plan of Yong-An Factory in Huangjiang, Dongguan. The Yong-An factory measures 165 thousand sqm in land area. Next year, we will begin to move the current Guangming factory lines over, as well as construct new buildings, such as new headquarters, the Sales and Marketing center, the prototyping center, and the high-tech testing laboratories. Yong-An will become the logistics center of the group, combining all resources and various production lines, in order to form a “Gas-relative appliance industrial city” there. This would immediately create thousands of jobs locally. The Huangjiang government was very eager to assist with our plans. Led by local head, Mr. Huang, a team of officials visited Yong-An Factory in April to understand our implementation schedule. He happily promised that the government would assist TPA in any local development matters in order to bring further success to the overall enterprise. The government’s main intention is to support regional development, and having its blessing is an important factor that can affect ultimately the success of any venture. Now, with this straightforward planning and support, TPA has firm confidence to integrate resources internally and externally to enhance long term operation planning!
